I’m excited to announce that the collection is completed and has begun its journey to the Lower East Side of New York City!
It is currently scheduled to arrive on Friday, May 18th. Once it does arrive, I will open every single pair of shoes and look to ensure that quality from the factory was met and is up to my expectations. I will be the third person reviewing quality, and I’m not concerned. But when the product has my name on it, I want to be sure it looks as good as it should. As soon as that is done, we will add inventory to our content management system and the e-commerce platform will officially go live!!
I can’t believe it. It’s taken so long to get to where we are today… The long hours, the travel, the time designing, sampling, making corrections, testing different factories for quality, building the e-commerce site… taking delivery of the first finished collection makes it all worthwhile.
And while I’ve been waiting for this finalized Spring/Summer collection to get finished, I’ve been working with the artisans who develop embellishments for the collection. I just got some great new pieces for the next collection that I’m incredibly excited about. More hand cut stones, some amazing settings, new textural elements… Can’t wait to show you!
Since we were a little bit behind with customs delays, we decided to air the collection into the country. It’s 2 day shipping instead of 20-30 days on a boat. I thought a picture of a cargo plane would be cool thing to include with the post since they are in the air as I type this… so I started looking for a little inspiration.
And then I stumbled onto the blue whale of planes. Look at this thing! It’s called the Super Guppy. Somehow that name just works. It was developed to carry over-sized cargo like components for the international space station, cranes, or you know, other planes. Shoes? Not so much. But if I do ever need to carry 54,000 pounds of footwear and fly at 300 miles per hour, this is my ride!
Our (much smaller) cargo plane lands at JFK tomorrow morning. It will be pulled from the plane and our logistics company will see it through customs. They will load it onto a truck and expect to make delivery on Friday. Limited inventory for the Caroline Cree Footwear Collection is coming soon. Thanks for reading!
